The Kid LAROI—an Australian hip-hop artist—held a competition, where anyone could be as creative as they wanted in designing merchandise for him. With my designs, I wanted to reflect and shed more light on the racial injustice that exists in our world today. I wanted to express that by using one’s voice, one will be heard and change can be sparked. Because it is meant to be merchandise for a hip-hop artist, I also decided to incorporate his lyrics that fit the message. They were chosen from the song “My City”. With my submissions, the lips also represent one’s voice, implying that someone is saying the copy in them.
